Accessibility Statement

Last updated June 2026

Equilibrium SA is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disability, people who use assistive technology, and people who access the web in ways that differ from the mainstream. We believe accessibility is not a feature. It is a baseline.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These are the accepted international standard for web accessibility, and meeting them means the site should work well for people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, and other assistive technologies.

As a disability support provider, we understand that our community relies on accessible digital tools. We take this responsibility seriously and review the site regularly.

What we do to keep this site accessible

Keyboard navigation

Every interactive element on the site, buttons, links, form fields, and the team profile modals, can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone. Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements so you can always see where you are on the page. A skip-to-content link appears at the top when you tab into the page, so keyboard users can jump straight to the main content.

Semantic structure and landmarks

The page uses proper HTML landmarks (header, main, nav, footer) and heading levels (h1 through h3) so screen reader users can navigate by region or by heading. Decorative images are marked with empty alt text so screen readers skip them.

Alternative text for images

All meaningful images have descriptive alt text. Team member photos include the person's name and role. Decorative images (such as the background phoenix) are hidden from assistive technology.

Colour contrast

Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA contrast ratios. Body text is charcoal (#2c3531) on a warm paper background (#FAF7F2), giving a contrast ratio above 7:1. Headings use deep blue (#1f6f9c) which also exceeds AA. We do not rely on colour alone to communicate information.

Accessible forms

The enquiry form has visible labels for every field. Required fields are marked. Error messages are descriptive and associated with the relevant field. The form can be completed and submitted using a keyboard.

Motion and animation

The site uses background animations and scroll effects. If you have enabled the "reduce motion" preference in your operating system or browser, all animations are suppressed and the site displays in a fully static state. No animation is essential to understanding or using the site.

Resizable text

Text can be resized up to 200% using browser zoom without any loss of content or functionality. The layout adapts fluidly at all screen sizes.

Responsive design

The site works on mobile phones, tablets, and desktop screens. There is a mobile navigation menu with clear controls and a visible close state.

Known limitations

This site is a working concept and is updated regularly. Some areas we are still improving:

If you find something that does not work for you, please tell us. We want to know so we can fix it.

How to request information in another format

If you need information from this website in a different format (for example: large print, easy read, audio, or a phone call instead of a web form), please contact us directly and we will do our best to help.

How to report an accessibility barrier

If you experience a barrier on this site, or if something is not working as expected with your assistive technology, we want to hear about it. Please contact Daniel using the details above and describe what you were trying to do, what happened, and what browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within two business days and to resolve accessibility issues as a priority.

We welcome feedback on accessibility. You will not be judged, redirected, or put on hold. A real person will read your message and get back to you.

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Australian Human Rights Commission, which handles disability discrimination complaints under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth):

Technical information

This site is built with standard HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript. It does not use any frameworks that are known to produce inaccessible output. The site is tested with keyboard navigation and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.

We rely on Google Fonts (Alata and Inter) loaded from Google's CDN. Font loading is handled with font-display: swap so text is visible even if the custom font has not loaded.

This is a draft prepared for Equilibrium SA to confirm before publishing.
